ABOUT ME

Hi, nice to meet you! My name's Berenika and I am the person that stands behind Studio Bereniké – small pottery brand from Slovakia. I have always loved crafting, DIY projects, simply all the ART stuff. Throughout my life I've tried many art techniques – drawing, painting, printing, weaving, etc...

Pottery became my passion during my design studies at FAD STU in Bratislava. And these times were a bit bittersweet. I've always been more drawn to fine arts rather than technical product design. This led to exhaustion and burnout. I even considered quitting my studies for good. In the last year I had to work on my master thesis. Being totaly desperate and exhausted I randomly found an article about smoke reduction fired pottery. I immediately knew this was it.

Pottery quickly became my passion and helped me get out of the burnout. I bought my very first pottery wheel and I started throwing my first pots in my parent's kitchen (thank you mom & dad). After successfully finishing my master thesis I opened a studio and started this crazy journey.

Why do I do this?

Every day is filled with routines. We wake up, make breakfast, go to work, do tons of stuff, come back home, make our dinner. The whole day passes just like that. Maybe we are stressed or in a rush. We don't even notice the small rituals that accompany us. A cup of coffee in the morning. Cappuccino from a local café on our way to work. Warm Chai Latté for an autumn walk in a park. That's why I make pottery - to reminds us the beauty of these small everyday rituals. Products that help you slow down, that communicate with you, that touch your heart. A cup that's only YOURS. A cup that helpes you find joy in your everyday moments.

My products carry an atmosphere, a feeling or maybe a memory. Each piece is unique in its shape, colour and its soul. Pick yours and may it follow you throughout your day over and over.
